Season 2

Season 2 officially began in late June 2021 with a reset of the world in anticipation of 1.17’s new terrain.

We came into this reset with more focus and direction on what Junicraft was going to be. The dungeons plugin was retained from the previous season, and several premade dungeons were placed by hand into the new world. 

It was suggested by someone in the community that MCMMO shoud be added to the server, and it was decided to be added to our plugin list based on a vote.

For this season, there would be no community center at spawn—rather, spawn became the server’s shopping area.

And for the first time, we also began holding events organized by community members, such as a bespoke card game, a treasure hunt, a bounty board, and a beauty contest.

In order for players both old and new to hang out and get to know each other better, it was decided that community build events should be held in which everyone is encouraged to contribute to a given project decided by the staff. The first community build event was the creation of a singular path that connected everyone’s bases on the mainland, which allowed for easier traveling for all in the early game.

For Halloween 2021, a build event was announced in which players competed to create a pumpkin-themed build, with the winner decided by a community vote. There was also a Halloween market set up which featured minigames, prizes, and shops.

In the summer of 2022, we held a sand castle-themed contest to see who could build the biggest and/or best sand castle, with the winner once again decided by a vote.

Additionally, a custom, handmade dungeon was created filled with unique, one-of-a-kind loot for players to collect—of which there are still some remaining for the bravest players to claim!

For Halloween 2022, a witch-themed build contest was announced, in keeping with the spooky theme. Players competed to create witch-related builds in the swamp surrounding the Halloween market. 

A haunted mansion was created, filled with special tickets for anyone brave enough to enter, which could be exchanged in the market for rare and exclusive gear!

This season came to an end in June 2023 with the release of update 1.20 and the subsequent beginning of season 3.
